Designed to Overcome

We live in a world which has an imperfect and inconstant system. There is nothing permanent in this life. Day after day, we are often faced with different challenges and tasks. Some of these could be very arduous. Jesus passed through the same kind of tests, trials and temptations we are facing today. He endured much conflicts in order to fulfil the will of God. We aspire to be more like Jesus and overcome every trial and temptation. Therefore, it is paramount we comprehend how we were designed. When we grasp God’s intention and design for our lives, we can confidently live daily in victory. God designed us to overcome every trial and temptation we may face.

¹⁴ So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. ¹⁵ This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. ¹⁶ So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Jesus, during His lifetime gave us an example of how we should live in order to fulfil the will of God. At the point of His greatest trial, He prayed a touching prayer we can find in the Gospel according to Luke.

⁴² “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” ⁴³ Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him. ⁴⁴ He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.

Even though He had the power to command multitude of angels to come to His rescue. He submitted His will to God. He knew why He had to come into the world in the way He came.
